Art classes in pencil drawing: the perfect gift
for your friends or yourself this Christmas

Stumped for the perfect Christmas gift for the budding artist among your family circle or friends? How about art classes in pencil drawing?

Registration deadline for “Pencil Drawing Step-by-Step,” a series of art classes that will be offered at the Ministry Center in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville, is no later than Monday, Jan. 1. The six sessions cost $70, and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, beginning Jan. 10. Remember to buy that gift – even if you’re treating yourself – as soon as possible, too, because class size is limited to 12.

Robert Sunyog, noted professional illustrator and designer, will offer easy step by step instructions in composition and perspective, and various techniques in drawing still life scenes, landscapes, trees, mountains, rocks, buildings, boats, lakes and streams. Sunyog has taught several classes at St. Thomas in recent years and has been very well-received.

Class meeting dates for “Pencil Drawing Step by Step,” sponsored by the Celebration of the Arts ministry of St. Thomas, are scheduled on Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31; and Feb. 7 and 14.

Registration forms are available at St. Thomas the Apostle, or individuals may send their names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses and checks for $70, made out to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, to St. Thomas’ General Office, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville IL 60563. If this is a gift, also include the art student’s name, address, telephone number and email address. Those mailing their registrations will receive a list of supplies needed for the series. The list of supplies also may be picked up at the general office.

For more information, contact Chari Rosales, St. Thomas’ director adult faith formation at (630) 355-8980, ext. 138.

Organized in 1984, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church numbers more than 3,300 households of more than 11,000 people.
