St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church announces Christmas Week Mass schedule

Gospel pageants, caroling and children dressed as angels and drummers at Mass are among the celebrations of Christmas St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville, has planned for Christmas Eve.

St. Thomas also announces the following Mass schedule during Christmas week:

Christmas Eve, Friday, Dec. 24: Masses celebrating Christ’s birth will be held in the church at 4:00, 7:00 and 10:30 p.m. A 4:10 p.m. Mass will be held in the gymnasium located inside the church building. A 4:30 p.m. Mass also will be celebrated in the chapel at St. Patrick’s Residence, at 1400 Brookdale Road, next door to the East of St. Thomas Church.

The 4:00 and 4:10 p.m. Masses will be geared toward families and will include Gospel pageants in which youngsters through their grade school years are invited to dress as angels and drummers.

The 7:00 p.m. Mass will feature high school youth and young adults. Although geared toward that age group, all are welcome to attend.

At 9:30 p.m., the Voices of Faith, St. Thomas’ adult choir, will sing Christmas music until Mass begins an hour later. The choir also will sing at the Mass.

Christmas Day, Saturday, Dec. 25: On Christmas Day, Masses will be held at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. in the church.

New Year’s Eve, Friday, Dec. 31: A candlelight vigil Mass celebrating the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, with a focus on peace is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, in the church.

New Year’s Day, Saturday, Jan. 1: Mass celebrating the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God with a focus on peace, is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. in the church. People are invited to bring time pieces, calendars and organizers to receive a new year’s blessing for those items.

Epiphany, Sunday Jan. 2: The regular schedule of Sunday Masses at 7:30, 9:00 and 10:45 a.m., and 6:30 p.m. will be followed. The Epiphany commemorates the manifestation of Christ to the Gentile world in the person of the magi, the three kings who followed a star to Bethlehem and gifted the infant with gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Anyone with a medical necessity is welcome to call for reserved seating at the Christmas liturgies. Because of the number of requests, seats can be reserved only for those with medical necessities, not entire families. To reserve a seat, call Lori Culberson at (630) 355-8980, ext. 120.
