Blood Pressure Screenings resume in September

Health Ministry volunteers will be offering monthly Blood Pressure Screenings on the FIRST SUNDAY of each month, September through May in the 2010-2011 parish calendar.
The next screening will be held in September, 2010, after the Saturday 4:30pm, and Sunday am Masses. Nurses are needed for this ministry, call Felicia Lawlor at 630-355-8980 ext 104.
This coming year we will be holding the screenings in the DEACONS’ OFFICE, which is to the left of the Narthex, when exiting church or otherwise known as, the West Wing.
We are hoping that this routine schedule will be more predictable and more easily accessible to all who have participated in the past and to any new health conscious parishioner or visitor. There will be many informational/educational handouts and pamphlets available for you. Please help yourself to these or ask the ministry volunteer for assistance.
Please accept a wallet card with the screening data recorded and carry that card with you at all times. If you currently have a wallet card, bring that card with you to each screening. If full, a new card will be provided. The card is for you and your personal physician. Be mindful that screenings are a “moment in time” recording of your blood pressure affected by many, many issues. Your doctor will need many home monitoring readings and/or site screenings to make a diagnosis of hypertension or to assess your current BP medication regime.
Remember, you are your best health advocate. Educate yourself on how to obtain the best home and site blood pressure screenings. See www.americanheart.org or www.cdc.gov online for assistance or ask your Parish Nurse for help.
All health conscious individuals are welcome. Call the parish nurse at (630)355-8980 ext 104 with questions, concerns, or to schedule another time.
